Every Monday, on the backfield after lunch, Syndicate 3 have been doing summer sport rotations. The sports are tee-ball, softball, cricket and longball. Our favourite game is longball! The 4 classes throughout the syndicate are split up into 8 teams and 2 teams go to 1 game. With Miss McMurtrie we do teeball and practice hitting the ball off the tee. Then we have a game to practice for the tournament. With Miss Steentjes we do longball. We have a game of long ball to get ready for the tournament. With Mr Walker we do Softball. We practice our fielding and batting skills then we play a short practise game. With Mr DeWit we play cricket. We practice our batting and bowling skills to get ready for our tournament. The tournament is going to happen on Monday the 11th April (P.P on Wednesday 13) The team with the most points at the end of the day wins! Points are awarded for the following things: Placing : 3 points for win. 2 points for a draw 1 point for a lose Fair play: 3 points excellent 2 points okay 1 point poor We will update you again after the tournament to let you know the results! By James and Dean. 30th March Last week syndicate 3 were supposed to go to camp. Unfortunately it was cancelled due to the Earthquake! So the teachers planned alternative activities and this is a report about that week. 1st- We made cupcakes with Mr Walker. We had to get into groups, make the batter and bake the cupcakes for 15 mins. After the cupcakes had finished baking we made Icing. We decorated the cupcakes with sprinkles and mini marsh mellows. 2nd- We joined Miss Steentjies for some fun pop art. Kelly was the only one to choose 4 square pop art. We had to choose a picture to enlarge. We had to make the art Identical to the picture we selected. 3rd- Room7 took a walk to Mr DeWitt for some fitness we got into teams and got a balloon and played games like Obstacle courses and Indian Chairs. 4th- we went to Miss Mcmurtrie for some technology. Once again we got into groups. We learnt that technology isn’t all about electronics. It’s also about designing things. Our challenge was to build a tower out of a few objects such as straws, cups, popsicle sticks etc On Thursday, it was awesome! We got to wear mufti! The first thing we did was go on a fabulous scavenger hunt, finding paper elephants around the school. At the end Mr Walker did a lolly scramble for each group. After this we joined Mr DeWitt for water games using sponges, water, buckets and cups. After this we did the 1st half of tenting with Miss Steentjies and Miss Mcmurtrie. After about half an hour the bell rang for lunch. We ran to the hall for our free sausage sizzle!!!! We had a mini disco. Mr Walker was the DJ. Afterwards we completed the 2nd half of the tenting. Miss S gave out Toffee lolly!!! Before we knew it our tent was up and we had time to chillax! Unfortunately the day had to end. The next day we had a quiz morning. Later we watched the movie Despicable Me! We loved it! Before we knew it the day was over and it was the end of Camp 2011. Can’t wait until next year!!!!!!!!!! By Kelly and Michelle We made it!!!!
