Today in Room 7 we learnt all about teleportation. Then using our very own "portable teleporters" we went to a place in the world that we have always wanted to visit. Then, on our return, we wrote about what we saw!
Here are some facts we dicovered about teleportation:
1: It is a method of travel which combines the
properties of telecommunication and transport.
2. It involves "dematerializing" (a fancy way of saying
disappear without a trace) an object or person and
sending details of that object to another
location where it is reconstructed again.
3. This would mean that you could travel to places instantly, no matter how far away, without
having to travel a physical distance! You could teleport yourself from your home to a tropical
islands in seconds! No plane needed!
4. In Star Trek a machine called the Transporter teleported the crew on and off the ship.
5. While it is not possible to teleport at the moment, in theory, if it is possible in the future,
scientists think it would work more like a fax machine where the original person teleporting is
"destroyed" and a duplicate person would appear at the other end in a new body...
hmmmm who wants to test this first?!
