Today is officially "Hobbit Day" celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the publication of the Hobbit (a book we here in Room 7 love, but sadly have almost finished!) Among the many ways that you can celebrate the day (and over the next few weeks) is by cooking... Bombur style! Below is a link to the official Middle Earth recipe book. Why not try one today. Let us know what you made!
On Tuesday our pen-pal letters arrived at Paroa School! Below is a video of them opening them up. How cool is that!
Today Room 7 sent our letters to our pen pals at Paroa Street. As part of this we walked down to the local post box to post our letters (and somehow ended up at the dairy! Five bags of lollies later...). Here are the photos of the afternoon's events.
Today while the Year 6 students were away, the Year 5's jumped on the laptops and went on Story Place during Reading. It has 6 (very funny!) stories which you can choose to read. Each has lots of music, sound and animations to go with it. What we loved was you could choose both the characters and their names. Here is the link to the site as well as some photos of the Room 7 Year 5's chilling and reading.
Today there was great (and we mean GREAT!) excitement as we received our first letter from our pen pals at Paroa School on the West Coast! Once they had been handed out we opened them on queue, excitedly reading our buddy's letter. It was so great to read what they had had written. Most of us found that our buddy was really similar to us!
Many in Room 7 have already begun writing their letters, answering the questions and telling about ourselves, and we will post these early next week.
Here are some photos of Room 7 devouring their first letter.
