Today, step 2 of the secret festival art project took shape. Making best use of the beautiful outdoor conditions, Room 7 practised their Jackson Pollock painting skills. These ranged from calculated and precision splashing through to Harry Potter type wand (paint) casting!
We had a tremendous time. It is not often you get the flick and throw paint around at school (and have your teacher encourage you to make more mess!). Stay tuned for step 3. It has begun. Room 7's secret art project is now well on the way. The first element was to saw a piece of wood into 3 pieces. Not as easy as you might think! Many of us had never used a saw before, but with Mr Griffiths to the rescue, step one was successfully completed. Step two is now on it's way.
Room 7 is beginning a secret art project for the upcoming Russley Art Evening next Thursday. Part of our inspiration for this project is Jackson Pollock, an American painter who was a major figure in the abstract expressionist movement. He is well known for his unique style of 'drip painting'. Below is a video we watched in class today, partly from a film called Pollock, showing elements of his work and particularly how he first came to begin to paint in the way he became famous for. |
