As part of the Year 5/6 homework program, the Team 3 students have the opportunity to complete a series of optional extension tasks. Cameron chose to create his dream bedroom in 3D. He used the theme of dinosaurs for the room and as you can see, it is quite spectacular! I think many of us would love to have a bedroom just like Cameron's model! Well done Cameron. A great effort!

Collecting snails and housing them are the latest and greatest craze in Room 7 at the moment. We have tanks full of them, and all of them have a name! Such was the craze, that Joshua made a "snail dojo" for the snails to spend time at during the day, practicing their martial arts! Very cool!!! Check them out below.
Missed it? Then you can read it below! Here is a very cool, super fun new maths game called Jetski Addition. In the game you compete against 4 other jestskis for the prize! Every time you click on and answer a correct addition problem, your jetski goes a little faster. The quicker you answer, the faster you go! The really cool thing is you can join a game, or start your own, and compete against other people around the world! Last year this game proved to be a real hit with the class!
My first few games led me to my fastest time of 54.70. Can you beat that? Leave a comment and tell us your times. Just click on the picture to play (be warned... it is so addicitive you won't want to stop!) Over the next 2 weeks our Poetry Challenge is to memorise Alfred Lord Tennyson's great poem "The Charge of the Light Brigade!" Today, to help us understand this famous, historical event, we watched a fantastic animated video that depicted that battle. This enabled us not only to get a visual understanding of what the poem is about, but also allowed us to discuss some of the language used in the poem. So... without further ado... here is the poem "The Charge of the Light Brigade" (with accompanying video). Enjoy!!! The Charge of the Light Brigade |
Half a league, half a league, Half a league onward, All in the valley of Death Rode the six hundred. "Forward the Light Brigade! Charge for the guns!" he said. Into the valley of Death Rode the six hundred. Forward, the Light Brigade!" Was there a man dismay'd? Not tho' the soldier knew Some one had blunder'd. Theirs not to make reply, Theirs not to reason why, Theirs but to do and die. Into the valley of Death Rode the six hundred. Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon in front of them Volley'd and thunder'd; Storm'd at with shot and shell, Boldly they rode and well, Into the jaws of Death, Into the mouth of @#!*% Rode the six hundred. | Flash'd all their sabres bare, Flash'd as they turn'd in air Sabring the gunners there, Charging an army while All the world wonder'd: Plunged in the battery-smoke Right thro' the line they broke; Cossack & Russian Reel'd from the sabre-stroke, Shatter'd & sunder'd. Then they rode back, but not Not the six hundred. Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon behind them Volley'd and thunder'd; Storm'd at with shot and shell, While horse & hero fell, They that had fought so well Came thro' the jaws of Death, Back from the mouth of @#!*% , All that was left of them, Left of six hundred. When can their glory fade? O the wild charge they made! All the world wonder'd. Honour the charge they made! Honour the Light Brigade, Noble six hundred! |
